The holidays are undoubtedly expensive. However, you can cut down on your expenses by taking on a part-time seasonal job. You can make more money and can often take advantage of employee discounts, which can help stretch your budget further.
If you started a seasonal job that paid $10 per hour on Nov. 13 and worked just 10 hours a week through January 13, you could earn an extra $900. That amount could go a long way in paying down your credit card debt, accelerating repayment on your student loans, or boosting your emergency fund.
However, it’s important to not wait too long before looking for gigs. If you wait until December 1, it could be too late. In fact, many companies have already started the hiring process. It’s a smart idea to look for opportunities and start applying as soon as possible to increase your chances of landing a gig.
Here are seven companies hiring seasonal help right now:
1. Williams Sonoma
Williams Sonoma is a culinary enthusiasts go-to store for cookware, small appliances, and gourmet foods. Currently, the company is hiring seasonal associates nationwide to serve as in-store cashiers, stock associates, and even gift wrappers.
But, best of all, Williams Sonoma is also one of the few companies that hires seasonal employees to work from home. Remote workers staff the customer care center, taking orders and answering customer questions. In this role, you’ll start at $11 per hour and get a 40% discount on Williams Sonoma merchandise.
You can download the application and email it to apply on the Williams Sonoma career page.
2. Target
The retailer is hiring thousands of seasonal staff nationwide to serve as extra cashiers, customer service representatives, and stockers.
Target offers competitive pay and a 10% employee discount on Target and Target.com purchases. The company also boasts that it has flexible scheduling policies, though seasonal staff should expect to have more stringent schedules.

Pay is normally around $9 per hour for store positions, but employees do get discounts, as well. To find open positions, visit Michaels’ career page.
7. UPS
UPS is one of the largest employers of seasonal help. In fact, UPS announced it planned on hiring 95,000 people to drive packages, handle deliveries, and manage other administrative tasks.
In a statement, the company CEO stressed that the seasonal roles can be a good fit for students, working moms, or those who just need a little extra money. And, like Michaels, many seasonal workers go on to become regular employees.
