The average U.S. household spends an estimated $850 annually on soft drinks, for a total of $65 billion on soft drinks alone. Imagine the cost savings you would save by choosing to drink water instead! This week we talk about drinking water instead.
Cost Savings
For Example, if you go out to a restaurant and opt to drink a soda, that's usually around $1.50/fountain drink or even $2.00/can for your favorite beverage. Choosing water instead, you've just knocked that price off your ticket. And, if you have a large family, you've just saved on average $8.00 - $10.00 worth of drinks alone from your tab. If you choose alcoholic beverages, you may as well triple that cost.
A 12pk of pop (or "soda" anywhere outside of the Midwest) typically runs $7.50 - $10. Let's do the math. If you're an avid Diet Coke drinker, and drink a 12pk each week. That adds up to $360 per year on the low end. Wow. Now, imagine if you don't buy the 12 pack from the grocery store and purchase that beverage from the nearest vending machine. The markup on a single can of soda is much higher. That's right. The average cost of a can of Diet Coke or other favorite beverages is around $1.50 from the vending machine. They just made approximately 88 cents on each can they sold.
